Ship’s lead based paint falls into the oceans, furthering the destruction of our planet. There are better ways

They let ships run full diesel engines w/o pollution filters, and dump their waste (human waste, food waste, etc) into the ocean.. b/c the logic is that the surrounding air and ocean water will create an acceptable parts-per-million once the pollution diffuses into the atmosphere and water. It’s one of the ways ships have been able to stay less expensive then other modes of logistics / transport. They’re basically floating pollution generators. The countries they use for refurb’ing the ships probably have no ecological standards and don’t care about lead paint falling into the water… and probably have beach goers or bathers right down the coast bathing in that water and getting lead poisoning. They don’t care. Companies are about cutting the bottom line, and the global economy helps them leverage countries that don’t care about pollution or worker safety / health.
